TGBS SHOW
Everything we do as a company is about promoting activity, healthy living and fun and this is all encompassed in our event – The Great British Sports SHOW.
It began in Exeter in 2018 with over 30 sports, 15 NGB’s, Clubs and Organisations and thousands of visiting families trying every kind of sport and activity imaginable – from Hockey to Croquet, Wheelchair Badminton to Dance – and an awful lot more.
Our aim has always been to promote healthy living and take away the “no’s” to participation – by this we mean –
- you can meet local clubs and coaches who you will meet again if you visit. We remove the “no” of being too nervous to meet new people
- there is probably a sport that you / your family think is not for you (fencing or surfing as an example), at our event you can try and see it’s a great sport
- you might not think sport is for you at all, but we showcase the other roles available in sport – referees, coaches, volunteers, nutritionists and so many more
So what is The Great British Sports SHOW?
What does it promote?
We promote 5 core concepts and principles in our event to meet the needs and engage everyone:
Tell Me More
The video below is from our inaugural Exeter Show and the content, feedback and interviews really do tell you everything you need to know about what we do and our aims:
What was the Feedback?
Aspiration
A 6 yr old girl told us that she wants to be a guide runner for blind people when she grows up.
Achievement
Children at our event running a collective equivalent of over 2 marathons with Kids Run Free on our indoor circuit.
Signposting
Within 3 days of the event one local hockey club had a new junior member sign up from participating at TGBSS and SW Athletics had 5 try out (including 1 wheelchair athlete).
Something for Everyone
After day 1 we asked a family for their feedback and Grandma stated her favourite activity was Blindfold Running
Access for all
One young visitor in tears when he discovered he can’t compete “professionally” at Wheelchair Tennis, because he isn’t in a wheelchair!
Family Engagement
Throughout both days we saw family groups spending over 3hrs playing and participating together
Inclusive Sport
One wheelchair visitor trying every sport available (even throwing a football) & signing up to our athletics club for wheelchair racing
What they Said
“Congratulations on a great event. Delighted that inclusion was the core.”
Mark Bullock, Inclusive Sport Advocate
What they Said #2
“It’s great to see lots of families getting involved in as many sports and activities as possible.”
Jack Maunder, England Rugby
